Welcome to Piscataway


Piscataway is a historic township located in Middlesex County in central New Jersey.  Originally founded in 1666 and officially incorporated in 1798, it is one of the fiftieth oldest municipalities in the country and the fifth oldest municipality in the Garden State.  This former stretch of Indian Territory is one of the first settlements on the Atlantic seaboard.  Piscataway get sits name from the Piscatae or Piscataway Indian tribe, which hunted and lived on these lands.

As of the 2000 census there were 40,482 people residing in this mostly industrial city.  More recent estimates put the population at just over 52,000.  Residents here enjoy a charming and peaceful community with plenty of amenities and convenient access to

The Garden State Parkway, Interstate 287 and the New Jersey Turnpike.  Aside from this, Piscataway is located just 35 miles outside of New York City.
